Whites~
Beyond Sauvignon Blanc South Africa
Beyond Sauvignon Blanc is light yellow-green in color with a nose of citrus, pine, honeysuckle and herbal notes. Light-medium in body, crisp, racy and dry, the wine offers flavors of lime, grapefruit, white peach, fig, and gooseberry. With a nice balance of fruit and acidity, this food-friendly white finishes crisp and clean.
Enjoy Beyond Sauvignon Blanc with grilled shrimp, shellfish, chicken salad, and cheeses.
Quara Torrontes
This variety is known as the pride of Argentina and our Cafayate Valley is recognizes¡d as the best place to find it. Warm days bring color. Cool nights create spice. We pair this wine with zestier foods and friends, but don´t let that stop you from experimenting. Because as in our culture, we´re not ones to let rules guide our enjoyment.
Excelsior Chardonnay
Forward fig, ginger and piecrust notes, with a broad, buttery finish. Good crowd-pleasing Chardonnay.
Reds~
Matua Pinot Noir
Supple and appealing for its lovely cherry and raspberry fruit, shaded with a hint of toasty spice.
Luccarelli Primitivo
Look out! Puglia is fast becoming Italy's latest wine zone to enter into the fine-wine sector. These are big rustic reds, for the most part. And this one from the boutique producer Luccarelli is no exception. Rumor has it, Primitivo is the ancestor of California's Zinfandel. This wine certainly shares Zinfandel's spicy, lusty, jammy characteristics. Full bodied, but not at all over-the-top, this would be ideal with roast pork loin.
Gnarly Head Zin
The Gnarly Head Zin has a powerful berry punch, leading into a lengthy finish. This is a wine that is fine to drink alone, and which will hold its own with spicy food, barbeque, beef, and any other strongly flavored dish. “Old vine” Zinfandels are noted for strong fruit flavors, and the Gnarly Head is no exception.
Scott describes it as, “a massive spicy black fruit attack with underlying licorice root, reductive black fruit stew, ripe plums, peppery sort of notes, with subtle vanilla from oak, massive tannin structure and balanced firm mid-palate and a longish finish, still peppered with spice and some dissipating alcohol.”
Needs to breath for some time before drinking so open it early!
