Owners Ed and Debbie Madden started the Redemption Center in December of 2000. Ed was tired of returning bottles to the grocery store and decided to make a life change. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he was a Manager at Hertz Rent a Car at Portland Jetport. Debbie continued to work at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield until the store opened.
With the growth of Saco and surrounding communities, everyone was making the trek to Portland to purchase wines and specialty beer. There was a need in Saco so, in December of 2003, Madden Beverage opened its doors. In June of 2004, Debbie left her job of 21 years to join Ed in managing the store.
Since 2003, the store has grown so that we now display over 900 various wines from around the world. We have the largest cooler in the state to house all the domestic and imported beer you could ever think of trying. We have a staff that is knowledgeable and attend to every customers needs.
Debbie and Ed have four children:
Tom - a 2008 graduate of Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. Tom was instrumental in the opening of the Redemption Center and the store and spent many hours with his parents attending to the product and the computer systems. He is now working at JP Morgan in Boston.
Scott - a 2008 graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco. Has enlisted in the Air Force and is in San Antonio Texas at Basic Training.
Chris - twin to Lisa - a 8th grade student at Notre Dame School in Saco. Enjoys bowling, skating and PS video games.
