Blacksmith's Winery
967 Quaker
Ridge Road, South Casco, ME 04077
|

William Watkins apprenticed as the South Casco blacksmith in his late teens. As the village smithy, he worked long hours, and neighbors saw sparks from his forge well into the night. He was notorious as a demanding craftsman, even making his own nails as he insisted machine-made nails were no good.
Blacksmiths Winery opened 140 years later at the same location. You can now
visit the original Watkins' home, and barn. While you're there, be sure to sample our award winning wines.
Blacksmith's like to think that each one continues the blacksmith's spirit of craftsmanship.
Blacksmiths has now produced its seventh vintage of 20 different wines, including three sparkling wines, two Port style wines and both stainless-steel and small French oak barrel fermented grape wines.
A full listing of Blacksmith wines are now available at Madden Beverage.

B. Potter Wine Chocolates Lyman, ME 04002

Becky Potter and her husband developed an appreciation for
wine while students at the University of Maine. She worked for the
Winterport Winery while completing her Master's degree in Food Science &
Nutrition. Through interactions with customers in the tasting room at
the Winery, she realized that there really is a science behind the
pairing of wines with certain foods. Many customers would comment: "A
glass of this would be great with a slice of Chocolate cake". And:
"Cheesecake would be perfect with this wine". And so, she was inspired
to create the first Maine Wine Truffles® with Winterport's Raspberry dessert wine.
In 2003, Becky was asked to make favors for guests at two wedding
receptions. After graduation in 2005, she began selling her Truffles at
local wine and gift shops including Madden Beverage. B. Potter did
several other weddings, and in 2006, began shipping their Truffles to
customers nationwide.

 The Winterport
Winery, owned by Michael and Joan Anderson, opened its doors in the fall
of 2001 but it really had its beginning in the Christmas gift of a home
winemaking kit some 30 years earlier. What was a hobby then has now
become a full time work and a family involved business - what used be
stored in the family basement now occupies the 3200 sq. ft. winery and
1100 sq. ft. tasting room.
A full selection of Winterport wines are now available at Madden Beverage.
